An ihrer laengsten Stelle ist die Insel 29 Kilometer lang, an ihrer breitesten Stelle 17.5 Kilometer.<\/p>\n<p>Die Insel liegt auf 27 Grad 10&#8242; westlicher Laenge, und auf 38 Grad 40&#8242; noerdlicher Breite. Sie ist Teil der fuenf\u00a0Inseln, welche die Zentralgruppe der Azoren bilden.<\/p>\n<p>Wie auf den anderen acht Inseln ist das Klima hier mild und warm.
